NEMSA – Network of parents in Saxony-Anhalt who have migration history: advice and support for parents
The project is aimed at building up a regional network for parents with a migration history. By providing this support, NEMSA hopes to significantly improve academic success among the children of these parents. The project, which was designed for parents with a third country migration history, offers parents the following services:
- Advice and support for parents with a migration history
- Online counselling for families in a variety of languages
- A multilingual online platform which provides information and resources for parents
- Events for parents on a range of subjects
- Training parents who wish to get involved as knowledge multipliers
Advice and counselling:
- Free advice and support for parents with a migration history concerning all questions and issues surrounding nurseries, schools or day care
- We offer counselling in a range of languages (English, Arabic, Vietnamese, Russian, French, Mooré), with other languages available by arrangement
- Face-to-face counselling at our Halle, Dessau and Magdeburg offices
- Counselling by telephone
- Online counselling
Events for parents on a range of subjects (based on interest and demand):
- The education system in Saxony-Anhalt
- Financial support, e.g. “Bildung und Teilhabe” [governmental family benefits], as well as covering costs for school trips
- Discrimination or bullying at school, etc.
- Media use or parenting problems
Training parents who wish to get involved as knowledge multipliers
